On September 22, 2020, Chinese President Xi Jinping first proposed at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that China would strive to achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. After that a broad and profound systemic economic and social transformation has been underway in China. On the occasion of the first anniversary of China's carbon neutral goal, Renmin University of China and China International Publishing Group jointly organized an international symposium to commemorate the first anniversary of Chinese President Xi Jinping's “Double Carbon” goals at UNGA and telling the world about China's "Double Carbon" process.
