Moderator: I would like to ask our colleague from China, Mr. Wang Wen, the question for you.
You helped many developing countries. You provide these countries with vaccines, like SINOVAC and other vaccines. The question for me is this, do you invest in emerging countries with the purpose of building a production capacity there, so that these developing countries would have their own capacity to make vaccines? It’s good to get vaccines, as recepients.
And it’s good to be a donor of vaccines. But in future, in case there is at risk of another pandemic, do you invest in creating production capacity so that globally we would have a better opportunity to produce the right amount of vaccines. I think there is a point in investing in developing countries. Are you investing doing these investments?
Wang Wen: This is a very good question. Actually, in the past nearly two years, China exported maybe over fifty percent of world’s masks, and medical machines including vaccines you are talking about. Last two weeks ago, in the China-Africa cooperation forum, President Xi Jinping of China announced that China will donate and export over 1 billion vaccines to Africa. This is the China’s huge contribution to the developing countries. But you are talking about the invest to the capacity of vaccine. The problem is that the vaccine production is a comprehensive capacity. It needs the whole procedure of production capacity. It’s not very easy. So, I think that the most necessary and important thing is that to prevent the pandemic. And save the people’s lives. So, I want to say is that China’s policy is to try our best to help other developing countries. But the problem is that China is still a developing country, Even we have the second largest economy, but we still have the poor region and villages in the west of China.
China not only has Beijing, Shenzhen, if you visit those cities, you’ll say, wow, China is a developed country. If you travel to the west of China, all these villages are still very poor. So, I think China’s capacity is very limited. Nowadays, the final solution is that three stop and three return.
The first is that stop attacking each other, and return to the real anti-pandemic cooperation, Especially for the developed countries. For example, the United States and the western European countries. What did they do in the past two years? How many masks do they export? How many medicals do they export? How many vaccines do they donate? They should rethink themselves. So, especially the American politicians, they should stop attacking China and Russia. And the world should unite to produce truly effective vaccines.
Second stop and return is that stop your ideological lies and return to real development agenda. It is absolutely unnecessary for the United States to organize the so called “democracy summit” this week. Such a move is to separate the world, and should be criticized.
We don’t need democracy summit. We need pandemic prevention summit. We need economy recovery summit. But we don’t need so called democracy summit.
Especially now.
The third is that stop unilateral QE monetary policy, and return to real macro economic coordination policy. Like the G20 in 2008. When the human beings’ crisis happened, the G20 coordinated with each other for the economic and monetary policy. So we need the G20 and UN to coordinate for the economic and monetary policy.
That’s all, thank you.
