Since the new world order featuring multiple global centers is not fully established, the world will have to face challenges posed by the collapse of current social order and the rapid increase of information, said Wang Yiwei, a senior researcher of the Charhar Institute, at the institute`s 37th roundtable meeting.

Wang`s book "The Trend of the Times," which focuses on China`s role in future global affairs, was introduced during the meeting.

To connect the dream of the Chinese people with the dream of people everywhere, China should shift its attention from economic growth to cultural innovation, said Wang, who is also a professor at the Renmin University of China.

Cheng Yawen, co-author of the book and researcher of the International Affair Research Institute at China`s Renmin University, also shared his views on global governance and China`s future role in global affairs at the meeting.

Wang and Cheng`s views were echoed by many other scholars. Ma Guoshu, senior researcher of the Chongyang Institute of Financial Studies at China`s Renmin University, suggested that China should develop "public good" to share with other countries, while Fan Yongpeng, deputy researcher of the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, advised that China should stick to its own development path and play a role in the world with its cultural products.

The meeting was chaired by Ke Yinbin, secretary-general and senior researcher of the Charhar Institute.

Wang Yiwei is also a senior fellow of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China.
