Ukraine sees good prospects for deepening its cooperation with Latvia within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China, Ukraine`s Deputy Prime Minister Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said here on Tuesday.

"We are focusing on the cooperation to develop links between the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea within the Trans-Caspian transport corridor," Klympush-Tsintsadze told reporters after the meeting of the Ukrainian-Latvian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

The partnership will offer new opportunities for the two countries to intensify agriculture cooperation, investment and tourism, she said.

Ukraine, which has a freight train connection with Latvia, plans to launch a cargo train to China via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) next year, traversing Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

The TITR corridor, part of China`s Belt and Road Initiative, uses railway, maritime and road transport for transportation of goods.
