President Xi Jinping`s recent visit to Iran will lift bilateral ties to a new level. That`s according to Mohsen Rezaie, secretary of Iran`s Expediency Council -- an advisory body to the Supreme Leader. Mr.Rezaie is also the former commander in chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards. He told CCTV that Iran is willing to conduct more cooperation on the economy and counter-terrorism.

"The establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership will enhance bilateral friendship and cooperation, and result in more cooperation between the two countries in the future. China is in East Asia, while Iran is in west Asia. Through us, we can build a bridge between east and west Asia. We believe Iran will benefit a lot under the "One Belt and One Road" initiative. Stability and security carries diplomatic meaning. Diplomacy serves the goal of maintaining stability, fighting against terrorism and stop the spreading of terrorism. We are prepared to conduct more cooperation with China in counter-terrorism," he said.
