The dean of the China Capital Market Research Institute says the country's capital market has experienced twists and turns over the past ten years, but it now has a clear target for the future. Wu Xiaoqiu made the comment at a lecture held by the Renmin University of China in Beijing on Monday. He said China's capital market is focusing on rule of law, internationalization and marketization.

The degree of the marketization of China's capital market was not high in the past and the pricing of issuance was determined by regulatory authorities. Now, the reform of the registration system allows the market mechanism to have the final say, let the market determine the pricing and choose what kind of enterprises can be listed. The next step is the rule of law in China's capital market and rules that are also adapted to the registration system. The goal of China's capital market is internationalization. China aims at building its capital market into a new international financial center."
