Editor's note: The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). It is also the first year of implementing the 14th Five-Year Plan and embarking on a new journey to fully build a modern socialist country. This provides an exceptional opportunity for the world to learn more about the CPC. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out at the Party history learning and education campaign that "the history of CPC is a history of continuously advancing Marx doctrine in China, and a history of continuously promoting theoretical innovation and theoretical creation." On this occasion, the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY) invited five eminent figures from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Switzerland to write articles to explain from multiple perspectives the international community's understanding of the century-old struggle of the CPC, which has changed the historical destiny of the Chinese nation and profoundly influenced the development of world history. In particular, the historic achievements and global significance made in the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics since the beginning of the new era, including the significant achievements made by the CPC in deepening major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, constructing a new type of international relations and party-to-party relations, building a community with a shared future for mankind, deepening and substantiating the "Belt and Road Initiative," advancing the reform of the global governance system, and promoting international cooperation in fighting the pandemic. The five articles are expected to provide new important coordinates for adhering to and improving the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, promoting the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity, and exploring the innovation and breakthrough of the global political party system.
