The report delivered to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China reiterated the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, indicating the Chinese government's determination and patience to work with other countries and continuously promote the construction of the BRI, a scholar said.

Wang Wen, executive dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of the Renmin University of China, said that over the past nine years, through various BRI projects, China has been sharing with the world the huge dividends brought by the innovation of the development models in sectors including finance, trade and technology development.

Wang was addressing an online event under the theme Promote the High-quality Development of the Belt and Road and Build a Community of Shared Future for Mankind, on Friday, introducing the BRI achievements and his insights based on a lot of field research. Over 60 journalists from more than 50 developing countries participated in the event which was held by the All-China Journalists Association.

Wang said that China has been the world’s second-largest economy in the world for the past decade, but it never takes the old way of "a strong country would seek hegemony". Instead, China has pledged to seek the way of peaceful development and BRI has been a good manifestation of it.

He added that many countries in the world want to seek development, and the BRI meets the aspirations of the vast majority of developing countries in the world.

He hoped that China and other countries could better improve their cooperative mechanism under the BRI and bring more benefits to countries involved in the BRI.
