The year of 2021 marks the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan", the green transformation of China's economy will be in full swing. The government work report and the "14th Five-Year Plan" as well as the 2035 Vision all emphasized that green and sustainable development is the main point of our work. All industries and regions should actively formulate carbon emission reduction plans, and strive to achieve in advance the climate governance goals which are "peaking carbon dioxide emissions" and "carbon neutrality". We should actively develop a green financial ecosystem, leading the green financial services to reach an all-around development in the era of low-carbon economy.
This year marks the first year of global competition for a green and low-carbon economy. For the first time, the goal of "carbon neutrality" has become an important guideline for the work of the central bank. To this end, as the secretariats of the Green Finance Committee of the China Society for Finance and Banking, Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY) and the Center for Eco-Financial Studies, Renmin University of China have cooperated with relevant institutions to hold the second "Carbon Neutrality and Green Finance" Forum, launching the first domestic “carbon neutrality” blue book project and the first domestic data center to monitor carbon emission rate so as to respond to the emphasis of the Central Finance and Economics Commission, on which all committees and governments at all levels should shoulder their responsibilities with goals, measures, and inspections to implement carbon emission reduction requirements and further push for the realization of “carbon neutrality”.
