Marco V. Balarezo Lizarzauru,

Ambassador of Peru to China

From Chancay to Shanghai: Peru-China Diplomatic Relations and Cooperation & Assets of APEC Peru 2024

In November 2024, Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and pay a state visit to Peru. He also attended the inauguration ceremony of Chancay Port by video link with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte together. As a flagship project for the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Peru, Chancay Port will significantly shorten transoceanic shipping times, reduce logistics costs, create numerous job opportunities, help build a gateway that connects land and sea, Asia and Latin America, and establish a comprehensive, diverse and efficient interconnected infrastructure framework. A new Asia-Latin America land-sea corridor for the new era is taking shape. In view of this, the "Ambassador Forum" of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin Universtiy of China (RDCY) will honorably invite the Ambassador of Peru to China, Mr. Marco V. Balarezo Lizarzauru, to visit the university and deliver a speech on January 8, 2025 as the forth forum speaker, exclusively sharing his insights about Chancay Port as a new starting point of an Inca Trail of the New Era and the outlook for the brighter future for China-Peru relations.
