Dr.  Nikolay Tomov is an eminent Bulgarian journalist, with rich experience in TV, radio, printed and digital information means, as well as social media. He has worked as senior editor of “International news” at Bulgarian National TV and as head of “International news” of “TRUD” daily newspaper.

In the period 1980 – 1988 he is Secretary of the British-Bulgarian Trade Union Association,

As a PhD graduate of the Research Institute for Trade Union Studies at the Central Council of the Bulgarian Trade Unions and as representative of Bulgaria and editor of the “Information” department (from 1989 to 1996) of the World Federation of Trade Unions (Prague) he has over 45 years of academic, professional and practical experience in labor and social issues, as well as on the questions of the Bulgarian and world trade union movement. 

Apart from dealing with international political and economic events, he specializes in regional and global intercommunity problems. His pronounced propensity towards civic affairs is manifested also by his active engagement in a varied and multidirectional NGO activity. He is Executive Director of the Slavyani Foundation (Bulgaria) and Vice President of the Federation for friendship with the peoples of Russia and the CIS.    

As Executive general secretary of the Bulgaria National Association for the Belt and Road he promulgates the achievements of the the initiative "One belt, one road",  convinced that it not only follows the traditions of the “Silk Road”, which influenced mankind’s  development, but is inherently a complex ideological and political challenge to the new civilizational realities of the 21st century.

He has participated in many forums, connected with the Belt and Road initiative.
