Raúl Ramírez Ruiz, PhD from the University of Córdoba (Spain), is Professor of Contemporary History at the Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid) and Director of the Research Group on Spain-China Relations of the URJC (GIRECh-URJC). He did his doctoral thesis as a Fellow of the Congress of Deputies of Spain. He has been Coordinator of the Degree in History at the URJC (2008-2012) and Academic Director of Transparency, Ethics and Good Governance at the URJC (2018-2024). As a sinologist he has been a Visiting Professor with a scholarship from the "José Castillejo" Research Foundation of the Government of Spain for Young Doctors at the Center for China Studies Abroad at the East China Normal University (ECNU). He was awarded a scholarship as a visiting professor of the "Understanding China. Program of New Sinology" by the Confucius Institute Headquarters. He has been invited to give lectures on Chinese history and relations between China and Spain at the following Chinese universities: East China Normal University (Shanghai); Shanghai International Studies University (Shanghai); Renmin University (Beijing); Peking University (Beijing); Lüliang University (Shanxi) and at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Member of the International Confucian Association and author of three monographs focused on the history of China and Asia and dozens of academic articles published in Spanish, English and Chinese, in the following countries: Spain, Belgium, France, the United States, Costa Rica, Mexico and China. As director of the research group on China-Spain relations at the Rey Juan Carlos University, he has directed and been the first author of the work "Asian Studies in Spain: analysis, evolution and perspectives" (2024), a work that analyzes the situation of "Chinese studies" in Spain from its beginnings in 1978 to the present.
