This year marks the first year of fully implementing the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and a crucial year for securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects as well as embarking on the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan.
CCTV-4 "China News" program opens up a special report on "China`s New Era" . Wang Wen, executive dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China, was invited to talk with the CCTV anchor Zhou Yingfeng on the hot topics regarding Eco-civilization and Eco-finance on March 10.
Wang Wen said in his interview that the improvement of ecological environment has a close relationship with the government’s high priority. Eco-civilization was mentioned in both Communist Party of China(CPC) and government’s guiding documents. Meanwhile, it is suggested that eco-civilization should be included in the amendment of constitution in the meeting on March 5th.
He noted that environment protection and economic development are compatible aims. It is unwise to focus on one side while neglect the other one. Not only does real life have successful examples that these two factors are promoted mutually, but also academic community has developed new domains like “environmental economics” and “sustainable development economics.”
Over the past few years environmental protective policies have greatly attracted public attention. More enterprises have focused on energy conservation and emission reduction, and more officials have attached importance to environmental achievements. However, only when the whole society takes responsibility, environmental improvement can really make a difference. From this extent, the progress that green industry has attained is inspiring. For example, under the guidance of People’s Bank of China, the green finance industry burgeons in China and its achievement attract world’s attention, Wang added.
All the efforts China has made on environmental protection has promoted the worldwide eco-protection, which is also condusive to the improvement of China’s global reputation, Wang Said.
