"Western smear campaigns against Xinjiang originate from deep-seated strategic and ideological anxiety over China’s development," explains Wang Wen, Dean and Professor of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China. Unwilling to recognize the governance achievements of a non-Western major country, Western forces cannot accept China’s success in handling complex ethnic and religious issues alongside rapid economic growth. To maintain their ideological dominance and moral superiority, they deliberately fabricate false narratives to discredit China’s ethnic governance practices.
