At this year's Boao Forum for Asia, attention is turning to the Global South and its expanding role in global governance. Participants at the forum explored how developing economies can strengthen coordination, overcome long-standing barriers, and push for a system that better reflects their interests. CGTN brings together voices from the forum, as they share why a more inclusive global agenda matters to the world.

ROVSHAN MURADOV Secretary-General, Nizami Ganjavi International Center "Today, the Global South has totally changed. It's the first time the Global South is confronting a Global North, and the Global South is having its own structure. Oil prices, energy issues, climate issues – everything is being decided majorly in the global South. And it's the way how we have to build up this trust relations between the countries."

SOHAIL KHAN Deputy secretary-general, Shanghai Cooperation Organization "Being an important voice of the Global South, it has no better alternative than to continue working under the existing institutional umbrella of the global multilateral system. The prevailing system requires more adjustments to become equal, effective, and balanced. It is only through inclusive reforms and genuine cooperation that we can establish a trustworthy and predictable economic governance and set new priorities and opportunities for shared prosperity."

DJOOMART OTORBAEV Former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan "How to get voice of smaller entities listened. China, undisputed leader in Asia in many aspects – economic aspect, political aspect, social aspect – big country, making all attempts to make our continent safer, and then going around the world. So, my statement is that we could focus on South-South cooperation. So Global South have all chances to get united and to get our voice listened around the world."
