China and the world in the post epidemic era——Sino-US conflict, global depression & digital economy
Given that the sudden COVID-19 epidemic in 2020 has brought great challenges and difficulties to the market economy, how can traditional industries break through the current plight and how do the new industries realize development? As executive dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY) and researcher of Financial Research Center of the Counsellor's Office of the State Council, Wang Wen analyzed "China and the world in the post epidemic era" from the perspective of macro economy, looked into the current international economic situation, and make his perspectives about the future development.
Professor Wang Wen and Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY), are earlier than anyone else to put forward the conclusion that the new epidemic situation of COVID-19 is the great depression unseen in the past a hundred years. At the same time, they are the first to put forward the proposal of "fighting the epidemic while grasping the economy simultaneously" to the central government. He believes that it is impossible to anticipate the far-reaching impact of the epidemic on the world, the vulnerability of Western medical systems as well as the fragility of global governance systems. In the post epidemic era, if China's economy and Chinese enterprises want to resist the impact of the global economic depression, they have to be based on the domestic market to seize the market with 1.4 billion people. In the Q&A session, Wang Wen made an in-depth analysis of the development prospects of domestic construction industry, manufacturing industry and other industries. He believes that the foundation for the survival of Chinese enterprises in the future depends on focusing on high-quality products, serving the higher needs of Chinese people's life, and changing from extensive mode of development to a precise one.
However, when talking about selling products through live-streaming platforms, Professor Wang Wen holds a different view. He believes that in the era of intelligence, enterprises must embrace the digital economy, but the live broadcasting definitely has nothing related with the future of digitalization. So it is imperative to standardize the management of live-streaming platforms and eliminate the chaotic live-streaming activities. The era of entertainment supremacy will go forever, and the eternal truth will always be writing the story of ordinary people and serving the people.
