"One Belt and One Road (B&R) Studies” theme seminar and release conference was held by RDCY

On October 25th, "One Belt and One Road (B&R) Studies" Theme Seminar and the Release Conference of "The Establishment of B&R Studies: Urgent Reality and Theoretical Necessity" was held in Beijing, hosted by Renmin University of China, organized by Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY) and Silk Road School, Renmin University of China. The conference was hosted by Wang Wen, the Executive Dean of the RDCY and the Deputy Dean of Silk Road School, Renmin University of China.




Professor Wu Xiaoqiu, Vice President of Renmin University of China (RUC), delivered an opening speech. At first, he expressed his congratulations to "One Belt and One Road (B&R) Studies" Seminar, and then elaborated on the core meaning, theoretical logic and ideas that require being clarified in the construction of One Belt and One Road (B&R) Studies. Mr. Wu also stressed that it is scholars' responsibilities and obligations to think rationally and convey the peaceful Chinese voice to the world. To express Chinese goodwill from historic depth is another important mission for Chinese with a board vision.




The second session is the released part for "The Establishment of B&R Studies: Urgent Reality and Theoretical Necessity" which was written by the joint research group included RDCY and the Silk Road School, RUC. The report was jointly completed by Wang Wen, Executive Dean of RDCY and Ma Lirong, the Dean of Institute of Silk Road Strategy Studies of Shanghai International Studies University and senior research fellow in RDCY. Zhou Luohua, Associate Dean of RDCY, presided over this session.

The Establishment of B&R Studies: Urgent Reality and Theoretical Necessity consists of three parts. The first part traces the development of social sciences and focuses on Chinese scholars' views on the discipline of B&R Studies in recent years. The second part of the report mainly stresses on urgent reality to construction of B&R Studies. The third part of the report puts forward the theoretical necessity of B&R Studies and extracts the basic outline of B&R Studies.

 


In the discussion session, experts have conducted in-depth discussions on the difficulties and prospects of B&R Studies. The seminar was hosted by Yang Qingqing, assistant to the dean of RDCY and the assistant to the dean of the Silk Road School, RCU.


Many experts unanimously recognized importance to establish the B&R Studies, and fully expressed the strong willingness to jointly promote the theoretical exploration and cooperative research of it. The experts also shared the difficult points and risks in the construction of the B&R Studies and provided practical suggestion to enrich B&R Studies.
