RUC delegation visits the US for the Xi-Trump summit and Sino-US long-term relations

From April 2 to 5, A delegation of Renmin University of China (RUC) made a research survey at Washington, D.C. and Denver, an important city located at Midwest of America. they held talks with more than 50 top-class experts and business people from American well-known think tanks, focusing on the topics of “Xi-Trump summit”, "Belt and Road” forum for international cooperation and long-term Sino-US relations.


The members of the survey group included Wu Xiaoqiu, Vice President of RUC, Zhao Xijun, Deputy Dean of School of Finance, Wang Wen, Executive Dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of RUC (RDCY), Chen Chenchen, Deputy Director of Macro Research Department of RDCY, and Liu Yajie, Deputy head of the Office of RDCY.

 

 

The survey group visited Brookings Institute.

 

The survey group visited Brookings Institute on the morning of April 3, and met with  Cheng Li, Director of the John L. Thornton China Center at Brookings, David Dollar, Senior Fellow of John L. Thornton China Center, Jamie Horsley, Executive Director of The China Law Center at Yale University. Both sides had a in-depth discussion on the strategic significance of Xi-Trump summit, and American perspectives on “Belt and Road” and AIIB.

 

 

The delegation visited the Wilson Center.

 

Then, the delegation visited the Wilson Center, met with Henry Kissinger, founder of the Kissinger Institute on China at Wilson Center, Stapleton Roy, former US ambassador to China, Robert Daly, Director of Kissinger Institute on China, and Andrew Wedeman, professor of politics at Georgia State University.


 

The survey group visited PIIE.


On the afternoon of April 3, the survey group visited Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), and met with the senior fellows Nicholas Lardy, Edwin Truman, and Gary Hufbauer.

 

 

 The delegation visited CRS.


Then, the delegation visited Congressional Research Service (CRS), and met with American famous economist Wayne Morrison and other senior researchers.


 

The survey group visited SAIS.

 

On the morning of April 4, the survey group visited Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), and met with more than 10 scholars including David Lampton, Director of SAIS China Studies, Carla Freeman, Deputy Director of SAIS China Studies. 

 


On the evening of April 2, more than 30 alumni of the RUC Washington Alumni Association gave a warmly reception for the delegation.

 

 

 Wu Xiaoqiu delivered public speech at University of Denver.

 

On the morning of April 5, Wu Xiaoqiu, Zhao Xijun and Wang Wen delivered public speeches on the theme of “Sino-US relations and Global Governance” at Josef Korbel School of International Studies of University of Denver, interacting with audience on the topics of “Belt and Road” and AIIB.

 


China-US Think Tank Dialogue was held at University of Denver.

China-US Think Tank Dialogue was held on the afternoon of April 5. Christopher Hill, former US Assistant Secretary of State and currently the Dean of Josef Korbel School of International Studies, Frank Laird, Deputy Dean of Josef Korbel School of international Studies, Suisheng Zhao, Direct of CCUSC, and other experts from Metropolitan State University of Denver and the University of Colorado Denver, attended the dialogue.
