Delegation led by Chief Advisor to Turkish President visits RDCY

On December 25th, a 12-member delegation led by Fecir ALPTEKİN, Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Turkey, and Emin Önen, Turkish Ambassador to China, visited Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY). The delegation conducted an in-depth exchange with about 10 Chinese experts such as Wu Xiaoqiu, Vice President of Renmin University of China, and Wang Wen, Executive Dean of RDCY, on the theme of “Turkey and China: Outlook of the Long-Term Partnership”.



The seminar was presided over by Yang Qingqing, assistant to the dean of RDCY. At the beginning of the meeting, Dean Wang Wen extended a warm welcome to the Turkish delegation. He recalled that he had traveled to Turkey to attend meetings many times, and established a profound friendship with the Turkish political figures and scholars. He introduced the achievements and experience of RDCY in the past six years since its establishment in the areas of think tank construction, government consultation and public opinion guidance. In order to further consolidate the humanities and educational exchanges between the two countries, President Wang Wen also specially introduced the enrollment and running of the Silk Road School at Renmin University of China.


Turkish Ambassador Emin Önen, expressed gratitude for the warm reception of the RDCY and the detailed introduction of Dean Wang Wen, and noted that the two countries are all promoting the social economy and the construction and development of the two countries have entered a new era. In the fields of sustainable development, safeguarding world peace and promoting multilateral economic order, we have common demands and rich experience, and should learn from each other, he said.



Then, in the guidance speech session, Vice President Wu Xiaoqiu introduced the current situation of China's political, economic and social development from a macro perspective, and also analyzed the strong determination that China further deepened reform and expanded opening up in the context of increased trade friction between China and the United States from an international perspective. He emphasized that Chinese people are striving to realize the "Chinese Dream" and the Turkish people are also pursuing the "Turkish Dream", hoping that China and Turkey can work together for common development.


In this regard, Fecir ALPTEKİN expressed her strongly agreement for Wu’s speech. She said that Turkey is currently facing the challenge of further economic transformation and upgrading. Under the framework of the “Belt and Road”, China and Turkey have great opportunities for cooperation and achieve win-win situation.



In the discussion session, experts and scholars from China and Turkey expressed their views in different fields and perspectives, including Wu Sike, Former Special Envoy to Middle East and Senior Fellow of the RDCY, Professor Erhan ASLANOĞLU, Dean of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Piri Reis, Ege Yazgan, President of Istanbul Bilgi University, Zhou Rong, Senior Fellow of RDCY, Hasan Basri YALÇIN, Associate Professor of the Istanbul Business University, Altay ATLI, Professor of Koç University of Turkey, and Jin Canrong, Deputy Dean of the School of International Studies at Renmin University of China.
