The 14th World Chinese Enterpreneurs Convention (WCEC) was held in Yangon, Myanmar on September 16-17, attracting more than 2,200 overseas Chinese business leaders to discuss a plan of business expansion.

Under the theme of "An Opening Economy in Myanmar, A New Epoch in History," the convention is hosted by Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce with Wu Jiyuan (U Myint Shwe) as general chair.

China`s top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng sent a congratulatory letter. Myanmar First Vice President U Myint Swe, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Qinmin, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY) was the only Chinese think tank invited to attend the convention, and the executive dean Wang Wen delivered a keynote speech at the sub-session on the theme of “Myanmar: An Opening Economy in A new Epoch”.

Wang Wen introduced the main achievements China has made since the “Belt and Road Initiative” was proposed four years ago, and briefed the results of RDCY’s research and investigation along the “Belt and Road” countries.

With strong support of the Myanmar government, the WCEC is aimed at pushing the regional economic development in line with the world`s changing economy and bridging world`s Chinese entrepreneurs for cooperation.

It is also set to make use of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the China-proposed “Belt and Road Initiative” to jointly explore the future development trend and space of Chinese businessmen as well as the world and Myanmar`s economy.

RDCY investigation group also visited the Chinese ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang and the local think tank in Myanmar, conducting in-depth exchanges on the “Belt and Road”. During the past two years, RDCY has paid the field visits for nearly 50 countries, published nearly 20 books , and convened over 100 international conferences regarding “Belt and Road”, which has yielded great influence on the decision-making of “Belt and Road”.
