Nine lectures held in RDCY commemorating 40 years of reform and opening up

This year marks the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. It is precisely because of the great cause of reform and forging ahead in the past 40 years that we have reached new heights, which makes us full of confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. In order to sort out and summarize the valuable experience of China's reform and look forward to future development, Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China(RDCY) invites several famous experts and scholars from Renmin University of China (RUC) to deliver a series of lectures. From December 2nd, RDCY will hold the following lectures:


RDCY Series Lecture No.136


Feng Shizheng: 40 Years of Reform and Opening up: Social Transformation and Social Governance


Time: Dec. 2nd, 2018(Sunday), 19:00 - 21:00


Keynote speaker: Feng Shizheng, Dean of School of Sociology and Population Studies, Renmin University of China


Feng Shizheng, Ph.D. in sociology, is mainly engaged in political sociology, organizational sociology, historical sociology, social inequality, social governance and state construction, social transformation and political order. He has published dozens of thesis in important journals  home and abroad such as Sociological Studies, and published monographs such as Social Governance and Political Order in Contemporary China.

Wu Xiaoqiu: 40 Years of China Finance: Common Sense and Logic of Returning to Finance


Time: Dec. 4th, 2018 (Tuesday), 19:00 - 20:30


Keynote speaker: Wu Xiaoqiu, Vice President of Renmin University of China


Wu Xiaoqiu, born in February 1959, is a famous financial scientist in China. He is vice president of RUC. Professor Wu Xiaoqiu is one of the experts with great influence in capital market research in China's economics field. He is an important pioneer in China's securities teaching, scientific research, personnel training and capital market theory research.

Wang Hua: 40 Years of China’s Environment


Time: Dec. 5th, 2018 (Wednesday), 19:00 - 21:00


Keynote speaker: Wang Hua, Dean of the School of Environment and Natural Resources, Renmin University of China


Wang Hua, Dean of the School of Environment and Natural Resources of RUC. He makes long-term economic and policy research on sustainable development of resources, environment and society. Academic papers are published in top international academic journals in the fields of environmental economics, ecological economics, resource economics, and development economics.

Yang Guangbin: 40 Years of Chinese Politics


Time: Dec. 11st, 2018 (Tuesday), 19:00 - 21:00


Keynote speaker: Yang Guangbin, Dean of School of International Studies, Renmin University of China


Yang Guangbin is the Dean of the School of International Studies of RUC. His researches include political theory and methods, comparative politics (world politics), contemporary Chinese government and politics, and China's domestic political economy and foreign relations.

Nie Huihua: 40 Years of Chinese Government-enterprise Relations

Keynote speaker: Nie Huihua, Vice Dean of National Academy of Development and Strategy, Renmin University of China


Nie Huihua, is Vice Dean of the National Academy of Development and Strategy of RUC. He mainly studies government-enterprise relations, corporate theory and institutional economics, and has published dozens of papers in top academic journals.

Chen Yanbin: 40 Years of Chinese Economy: "Fundamental Change" Is at Right Time

Keynote speaker: Chen Yanbin, Vice Dean of School of Economics, Renmin University of China


Chen Yanbin is Vice Dean of the School of Economics. His mainly studies macroeconomics, and he has published hundreds of academic papers in important journals at home and abroad.

Guo Qingwang, Director of the Institute of Finance and Taxation of RUC, Has long been committed to financial theory and policy, macroeconomic theory and policy, economic growth theory research.

Wang Wen: 40 Years of China and the World: A Perspective from investigating Nearly 100 Countries

Keynote speaker: Wang Wen, Executive Dean of RDCY


Dr. Wang Wen is Executive Dean of RDCY, Deputy Dean of Silk Road School, Renmin University of China. He specializes in global governance, major power relations, green finance and macroeconomics policies. He is also the Secretary-General of Green Finance Association of China, Consultant Fellow at Counselors’ Office of the State Council of China and so on. He used to be the reporter of People’s Daily, the most important newspapers in China. He is an influential think-tank scholar in China whose reports have been approved by Chinese policy-makers for dozens of times. He is now the consultant expert for several Chinese government ministries. In 2016, Dr. WANG was invited to be one of the ten speakers to participate in the symposium on philosophy and social sciences hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Dong Ximiao: 40 Years in China's Banking Industry

Keynote speaker: Dong Xiwei, Senior Research Fellow at RDCY


Dong Ximiao, Executive Dean of Research Institute of Hengfeng Bank, Senior Fellow of RDCY, observer of Retail Banking, renowned commentator on finance and economics, Senior Economist and Financial Planner. He owns many years experience of banking and has served as managers in provincial branches of some large-scale commercial banks.
