China-Brazil BRICS Think Tank Dialogue held in Basilia

On August 1 in Brazil, the China-Brazil BRICS Think Tank Dialogue which is themed as the "BRICS cooperation: assessment and future" was held in Basilia, the capital of Brazil. Over a hundred people, including Ambassadors, senior diplomats, government officials, well-known scholars, and media From China, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, India and other 30 countries, had a one-day discussion about the primary task of BRICS’ future cooperation, financial cooperation, new development banks and other topics.



RDCY signs strategic cooperation memorandum with IPRI.


The conference was guided by the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA) and the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG) in Brazil, co-hosted by Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY) and the International Relations Research Institute of Brazil (IPRI). Before the opening of the session, in the witness of Li Jinzhang, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil, Hu Zhengyue, Vice-President of the CPDA, Wu Xiaoqiu, Vice-President of Renmin University of China, Sergio Moreira Lima, President of the FUNAG, and Georges Lamazière, Deputy Foreign Minister of Asia-Pacific Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Wang Wen, Executive Dean of RDCY, signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation with Paulo Roberto de Almeida, director of the IPRI. It made an important step for promoting strategic mutual trust between the two countries.



China-Brazil BRICS Think Tank Dialogue was held in Basilia.


Brazilian local media highly praised it. They think that both governments of China and Brazil, and other BRICS countries should pay high attention to the dialogue. It was considered the largest think tank and public diplomacy conference hosted by China in Brazil ahead of the BRICS Summit, in early September this year. The memorandum of strategic cooperation, signed by two sides, established the bilateral channels of cooperation and greatly promoted the political mutual trust between these two countries.
