2020 Program Overview
The Master of Contemporary Chinese Studies Program at Renmin University's Silk Road School (SRS) is a key measure by Renmin University of China (RUC) to actively support the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in an education context. Based on RUC's educational platform, international experience, and high-level think-tank resources, SRS is devoted to train scholars and leaders for countries along the BRI who are passionate about China, who are well-versed in key aspects of Chinese culture, and who profoundly understand the path, approach, and goals of China's development.
Departing from a global strategic perspective and amassing global political leaders, business elite and outstanding faculty resources, the program combines competitive professional courses, expert seminars, high-level forums, visit to well-known enterprises as well as various cultural visits to offer students a well-rounded academic experience in China.
The Silk Road School offers several levels of scholarship for the successful applicants, including the full scholarship and partial scholarship.
Eligibility
Application Process
Complete the Online Application on the website of international student’s registration system at Renmin University of China (http://international.ruc.edu.cn/application). Upon completion of registration, applicants must fill in the application form with personal information truthfully and upload the necessary materials, then submit and print the form finally. Once confirmed the registration, please pay the RMB 800 application fee online. The application fee will not be refunded.
Application Materials
Application Form (print out this form after registration online and sign);
Proof of the highest diploma (original copy or notarized photocopy in English), or the expected graduation certificate issued by the university for applicants who will get the bachelor’s degree or above before August 31, 2020;
Official transcripts of the highest degree (original copy or notarized photocopy in English);
Two 2-inch recent passport photos with white background;
Photocopy of ordinary passport’s profile page (passport valid later than March 31, 2021);
Two letters of recommendation in English including referees’ detailed contact information and referees’ signature;
Personal statement (at least 1000 words in English, indicating study and working experience, motivation for applying, academic research achievement, study and research plans, career goals etc);
Personal CV;
Foreigner Physical Examination Form: the examination result must be obtained within one month, stating that the applicant has no serious infectious diseases or any diseases which could prevent entry into China (Absence of requested item, personal photo and seal on the photos, signature of physician and official stamp are deemed invalid);
Copies of a catalogue of published academic articles along with abstracts, awards received or other research outcomes;
The guarantor's economic capacity certificate (certificate of on-the-job income, bank deposit certificate or other economic capacity certificate) shall not be less than 30,000 RMB in total;
Bank payment receipt for the application fee;
Copies of other original research (optional);
Personal video clip (optional).
Notes on Application
All documents should be in English; Otherwise, certified English translations should be submitted with the original documents.
The cut-off date for submitting all above materials online is April 30, 2020.
