On September 29, the Second Annual Conference on Finance of Renmin University of China (2018) was held in Beijing. During the intersession, Jin Nuo, Chair of RUC University Council, met with the former Slovenian President Danilo Türk, who made a luncheon speech at the conference.
Jin Nuo extended warm welcome for Mr. Türk’s arrival. She said that Mr. Türk is a world-renowned politician, diplomat, jurist, and social activist, and has made great contribution in the areas such as global governance, “Belt and Road" and global development, especially the "Belt and Road" research and cooperation between China and Europe under the framework of “Belt and Road”. She is particularly grateful to Mr. Türk for his fruitful efforts in the think tank of RUC since he was appointed as a senior fellow of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY).
Jin Nuo mentioned that this year marks the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up and the 40th anniversary of the restoration of RUC. On such a special day, the convening of the Second Annual Conference on Finance with the theme of "China's 40 years of reform and opening up and the development of China's financial discipline" is of great significance.
Mr. Türk expressed gratitude to chairwoman Jin Nuo. He said that as a researcher, it is his honor to work for the think tank of RUC, and make contribution for the communication of China and the world. He stated that the world is paying close attention to China,and China's "Belt and Road" initiative, as well as its financial reform.
Dr. Danilo Türk has been the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations since 2000 and was selected as the President of the Republic of Slovenia in 2007. He has been working in the United Nations for nearly 30 years, who has visited China many times and has received interviews with Chinese leaders such as President Xi Jinping and Vice President Wang Qishan. He was appointed as a senior fellow of RDCY in 2015,who was remarked as the first national head of state to be a Chinese Think Tank researcher in the history. Over the past few years, he has published dozens of articles in China and internationally renowned media to introduce China and promote the “Belt and Road”.
Wu Xiaoqiu, vice president of RUC, attended the meeting. He said that the first annual conference on finance was a close-door meeting. This year, we are fortunate to have invited Mr. Turk to discuss the future of China's financial development.
Zhuang Yumin, dean of the School of Finance, Yan Jinming, director of the Research Department, Zhao Xijun, deputy dean of the School of Finance, and Wang Wen, Executive Dean of RDCY, attended the meeting.
