The following is the full text of the interview.
Host: okay let's delve a little bit further into this. I'm happy to say professor Wang Wen from China's Renmin University joins us live now. Good to see you. The law has been passed on the anniversary of the British handover of Hong Kong to China. Is Beijing sending a signal with that?
Wang: Yes, as you know, tomorrow is July 1. Why China won't pass the law before July 1st is that China Just want to show the world that China determination to safeguard its sovereignty and integrity. And also China wants to tell the world that Hong Kong has returned to China on July 1st 1997. China has a national security law to protect the security of Hong Kong, so Hong Kong is a part of China. It's a very nature for China to aim at the national law for Hong Kong. The Hong Kong people are very willing and so are the 1.4 billion Chinese people. I'm very wondering why the US want to stop it why so many European people want to stop it. There's no basis or reasons for the US to intervene in Hong Kong security legislation. For many Chinese, it’s meddling.
