Chinese think tanks international influence forum 2017 was held in Beijing.

 

Hosted by Renmin University of China, Guangming Daily, Silk Road Think Tank Association, and organized by Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China (RDCY), Think Tank Research and Release Center of Guangming Daily, China Center for Contemporary World Studies of the International Department of CPC’s Central Committee, Chinese think tanks international influence forum 2017 was held in Renmin University of China (RUC) on January 9, 2017. More than 300 guests including well-known scholars from Chinese think tanks, prominent leaders from several organizations and reporters from media join the meeting. 

 

 

 

Jin Nuo and Zheng Shuiquan met with Du Feijin and He Yafei.


During the forum, Jin Nuo, Party Committee Secretary of RUC, and Zheng Shuiquan, Deputy Party Committee Secretary met with Du Feijin, the Chief Editor of Guangming Daily, and He Yafei, Former Vice Minister of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and currently a Senior Fellow of RDCY. Both sides conducted in-depth discussion on how to push forward the construction of international influence of university think tanks.

 

Liu Wei, President of RUC, made an opening remarks. At the opening ceremony, keynote speeches delivered by Jin Xin, Dean of China Center for Contemporary World Studies of the International Department of CPC’s Central Committee, and also the Secretary General of Silk Road Think Tank Association, representing Vice Minster of International Department of CPC’s Central Committee Guo Yezhou, Zhao Baige, Vice Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of NPC, Chairman of RDI Think Tank Platform, Sun Weijia, Head of Department of International Exchanges & Cooperation at Counsellors’ Office of the State Council, representing Vice Chairman Wang Hong, Long Guoqiang, Vice-President of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Long Guoqiang, Vice-President of the Development Research Center of the State Council. The opening ceremony was chaired by Liu Yuanchun, Vice President of RUC.

Liu Yuanchun said that deepening international cooperation has become historical mission for Chinese think tanks after G20 Summit was successfully hosted in Hangzhou, and against this background, the forum focusing on the international influence of think tanks for the first time is just in time and will become a landmark event to push forward the internationalization of Chinese think tanks.

Liu Wei called for the rising of Chinese think tanks to enhance the discourse power in the world, promote the international influence of Chinese thinking, and provide new ideas for the development of the world.


 

Jin Xin delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

 

Jin Xin noted that the upcoming multilateral diplomatic events such as “Belt and Road” forum in may and leaders Summit of BRICS in September this year will provide an important opportunity for the development of think tanks.



Zhao Baige delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.


Zhao Baige said that Chinese think tanks should exert influence on the construction of the “Belt and Road”.

 


Sun Weijia delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.


Sun Weijia urged the Chinese think tanks to develop quickly so as to support the interaction and cooperation between China and the world.


 

Long Guoqiang delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

 

Long Guoqiang said that Chinese think tanks should sum up Chinese development experience properly to provide reference for the other developing countries.


 

Ou Xiaoli delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

 

Ou Xiaoli said that Chinese think tanks gathering together to discuss international influence means China is seeking for building up discourse power system in the world and Chinese think tanks take on this responsibility.  

 

After the keynote speeches, Li Gang, Deputy Director of the Research and Evaluation Center for Chinese think tanks of Nanjing University released the Research Report on Chinese Think Tanks International Influence.


 

Guo Qingwang, Li Fugen and Li Ruohong signed an agreement on the website of “Belt and Road”

 

Guo Qingwang, Dean of School of Finance at Renmin University of China, Dean and Executive Director of RDCY, Li Fugen, Vice President of China.org.cn, and Li Ruohong, President of Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation signed an agreement on the website of “Belt and Road” and announced the open of the website.

The following general discussion on “Home Field Diplomacy and Think Tanks Construction in 2017”, was attended by Wang Jisi, President of Peking University’s Institute of International and Strategic Studies, Huang Renwei, Vice President of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Yang Rui, Host of CCTV English Channel, and Wang Huiyao, Counselor of China`s State Council and President of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG). Executive Dean of RDCY Wang Wen Chaired the discussion.


The forum also set up three panels to discuss the topics on “Global Governance and Think Tanks Construction”, “Global Governance and Think Tanks Construction”, and “Think Tanks Culture and National Strategy”.

 

 

Du Feijin delivered a speech at the closing ceremony.

 


He Yafei delivered a speech at the closing ceremony.

 

At the closing ceremony, Du Feijin, Chief Editor of Guangming Daily, and He Yafei, Former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ministry, delivered keynote speeches. Besides, two reports were released respectively. One is Chinese think tanks transparency report, released by Zhu Xufeng, Professor of Public Administration of Tsing-hua University, and another is think tank’s report on “Why RMB is Strong”, released by Jia Jinjing, Director of Macro Research Department of RDCY.
