Delegation of the Club of Rome visits RDCY.

On February 24, a delegation led by Graeme Maxton, Secretary General at Club of Rome, visits Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China (RDCY). Both sides exchange their views on sustainable development, eco-finance and other topics.

Yang Qingqing, Director of Research Cooperation Department of RDCY, brief the guests on the establishment, mechanism and achievements of RDCY. Cao Mingdi, Deputy Director of Eco-finance Department, gave a briefing on the background of Center for Eco-finance Studies, main research fields and recent research results. Graeme Maxton expressed great interests on the achievements of RDCY.

Then Graeme Maxton made a deep analysis of the global issues such as the use of natural resources, the development of human society and the changes of the ecological environment,  and pointed out that the production mode and life style should be fundamentally improved to promote sustainable development of the world. Lan Hong, Deputy Director of Center for Eco-finance Studies and Professor of School of Environment and Natural Resources at Renmin University of China, Wang Yao, Senior Fellow of RDCY, and Cheng Cheng, Associate Research Fellow of Industrial Research Department of RDCY, conducted deep discussion on these issues with Graeme Maxton.

The Club of Rome is a global think tank that deals with a variety of international issues, including the world economic system, climate change, and environmental degradation. Founded in 1968 at Rome, Italy, the Club of Rome describes itself as "a group of world citizens, sharing a common concern for the future of humanity." Since 2008, the organization has its headquarters in Switzerland. It raised considerable public attention in 1972 with its report The Limits to Growth. The club states that its mission is "to act as a global catalyst for change through the identification and analysis of the crucial problems facing humanity and the communication of such problems to the most important public and private decision makers as well as to the general public."
