On April 14, invited by Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China (RDCY), Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov delivered a public speech on the theme of “Sino-Russia relations in the new era”. Then he was invited to exchange views with the members of RDCY’s research group to Russia. Both sides expected to find ways to enhance the strategic cooperation, especially provide realistic, constructive, long-term and operational think tank advice for the financial cooperation between two countries.

RDCY’s Executive Dean Wang Wen chaired the seminar. Yao Peisheng, Chinese former Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, Wang Xianju, Deputy Director of RUC-SPBU Joint Center for Russian Studies, Liu Zhiqin, Senior Fellow of RDCY, Dong Ximiao, Visiting Fellow of RDCY, Yang Qingqing, Director of Research Cooperation Department of RDCY, Cheng Cheng, Associate Researcher of Industrial Research Department and several other experts attended the seminar. It was another in-depth interaction between RDCY and Russian senior leaders followed by the 5th Moscow Economic Forum, which was held on March 28-31. In general, the event is of great significance for the upcoming “Belt and Road” forum for international cooperation and BRICS Leaders’ Summit which will be held in Xiamen in September.

Andrey Denisov lauded the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between China and Russia. He said that Sino-Russian relations have reached the “best stage” after the healthy development of these years and it is “unique” in the world. He also emphasized that China-Russian cooperation in economic and trade has achieved fruitful results. The volume of both import trade and export trade has steadily increased, and the trade structure is diversifying between two countries.

Ambassador Denisov has already answered the questions on Chinese trade center in Russia, Sino-Russian cooperation on “Belt and Road” and supply-side reform of two countries.
Denis Taganov, assistant to the Russian Ambassador, Igor Pozdniakov, First Secretary of Russian Embassy in China, Maxim Grechany, Second Secretary of Russian Embassy, attended the seminar.
