Over the past eight years, the construction of BRI"One Belt and One Road" has been going deeper and deeper, and fruitful results have been achieved, with Xinjiang becoming the transportation hub and logistics distribution center of BRI"One Belt and One Road". Renmin University of China has always been concerned about the development of Xinjiang and has taken practical action to serve the construction of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and the Production and Construction Corps, and to carry out cultural exchanges and educational cooperation. It is hoped that the countries along the Silk Road can engage in deeper dialogue and exchanges, share their experiences in international and domestic issues, and work together to adhering the principle of wide consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits under the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
Xu Guixiang analyzsed the current situation and future opportunities of Xinjiang's development from three aspects: the overall situation, the fundamental nature and the future development. He said that Xinjiang has always adhered to the people-centredcentered ideology and taken the people's aspiration for a better life as the goal of struggle, and all the work and policy measures in Xinjiang have been carried out and promoted in accordance with such a guiding ideology, and in practical terms have achieved remarkable results. Practice has proven that the benefits of stability are being unleashed and that multiple factors will bring vigorous development and strong momentum to Xinjiang. So from this perspective, as long as Xinjiang is stable, the prospects for development are immeasurable.
This was followed by keynote speeches by Dong Guanpeng, Vice President of China Public Relations Association, and Xing Guangcheng, Academic Committeeman, Director of Institute of Chinese Borderland Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Dong Guanpeng argued that the outside world needs to listen more to the voices from Xinjiang and to have a correct understanding of the development of Xinjiang. He stressed that foreigners should come to Xinjiang to listen to the voices of the people, not to the voices of politicians, because politicians and politics will not give the real answers in the end, but the real answers are the locals in Xinjiang, who will tell the outside world what is the real situation in Xinjiang with their own personal experiences. Xing Guangcheng analyzsed in detail the basic path for the construction of the core zone of the Silk Road Economic Belt in Xinjiang. He believes that the core zone of the Silk Road Economic Belt in Xinjiang has five orientations: a transport hub centre, a trade and logistics centre, a financial centre, a cultural, scientific and technological education centre, and a medical service centre, and that these five centres determine the future direction of development in Xinjiang. He believes that the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Central Asian region are highly interconnected, and for this reason, Xinjiang should strengthen and deepen cooperation with the Central Asian region and countries.
Host Wang Wen said that the issue of Xinjiang's development is very important, and that Xinjiang has made unprecedented achievements in economic and social development and improvement of people's livelihoods, with people's lives significantly improved and national unity more consolidated. In the face of the anti-China forces in the US and the West's manipulation of Xinjiang-related issues, we must maintain the optimism and self-confidence that "justice will prevail over evil", uphold an objective and impartial stance, and tell the Xinjiang story in a three-dimensional and comprehensive manner, so that more young generations around the world can understand the real Xinjiang objectively.
