The release ceremony of "Discussion on the Path to China's Development: Dialogues between Wu Xiaoqiu and Nine Top International Experts", jointly organized by Economic Press China and the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY), was held successfully online on June 22, 2020.
The seminar was presided over by Wang Wen, executive dean of RDCY. He said that China's external environment has actually changed last year and a half. But because of the dialogue between Professor Wu Xiaoqiu and experts from Europe and the United States, the exchange of ideas between China and the outside world has not been interrupted.
Mao Zengyu, general manager and vice party Secretary of Economic Press China, delivered an opening remark that the book involves many fields such as history, economy, social system, world pattern, etc., and shows the development, changes and achievements of China in the past 70 years.
In the release session, Professor Wu Xiaoqiu, vice president of Renmin University of China, dean of Institute for China Capital Market Research, said that the scope of the dialogue is also very large, from economy to history and even philosophy. From the perspective of scholars, the exchange of opinions will be an effective way to express China's development and deepen mutual understanding. He believes that the exchange of scholars is also an important channel which can transmit Chinese voices, listen carefully to external views, and seriously think about the way to development.
In the discussion session, Fu Mengzi, vice president of China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), expressed his congratulations first. As he said, there are three characteristics of this book, separately transnational cross-border and leapfrog. He stated that "Discussion on the Path to China's Development" is a grand proposition which is not only an economic development, but a comprehensive and comprehensive development, including the systematic improvement of politics, diplomacy, science and technology, military, social and cultural life.
Huang Haizhou, managing director of China International Capital Corporation, said in his speech that there are many disputes in the world with the changing of international order. And Professor Wu Xiaoqiu's perspective is very unique that no matter what the problem is, the solution can be found through the capital market.
Wang Yiwei, senior fellow of RDCY, said that China's development cannot be explained by the Western knowledge framework. Therefore, the academic requirements of Chinese scholars are also more interdisciplinary. Only with interdisciplinary awareness can we discuss the development of China with the world's top scholars.
Then the experts answered the questions online. Finally, Professor Wu Xiaoqiu concluded his speech and said that China's development is unstoppable. This is a basic trend. China's development will face greater difficulties in the future, which inspires Chinese scholars to think about how to further consolidate the foundation for our country. For China's rise, it must have global influence which concludes economy and the value and cultural system. An influential power lies in its ideological influence and value guidance.
