This year marks the first year of fully implementing the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and a crucial year for securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects as well as embarking on the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan.

CCTV-4 "China News" program opens up a special report on "China`s New Era" . Wang Wen, executive dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China, was invited to talk with the CCTV anchor Zhou Yingfeng on the hot topics regarding the people`s sense of fulfillment on March 11.

In his interview, Wang Wen said that after three or four generations’ efforts, China’s comprehensive national strength has been greatly improved. We have had enough power to  meet the individual people’s values and needs. Therefore, in the government work report of the two sessions each year, the government always sends a lot of “great gift packages” to the people. This year is no exception. These policy gifts released by the government prove that China has entered an new era of harvest and the people is sharing the fruits of reform and opening up. On the other hand, it also reflects the further development of the CPC`s governing philosophy, with more emphasis on the people`s sense of fulfillment and achievement.

However, while we are constantly improving our sense off fulfillment and achievement, we cannot avoid the fact that there are still many weaknesses regarding the people`s livelihood. Wang Wen said, one is for the middle and low income people in the society. In the past years, the settlement of poverty relief and unemployment alleviation are the largest gifts for low- and middle-income people. The second is the popularization of science and technology, especially the popularization of Internet technology, which enables ordinary people to enjoy the convenience and service brought by science and technology, and enjoy the sense of achievement brought by science and technology. These are all important moves to make up for the people’s livelihood weaknesses.

Wang emphasized that over the past few years, we have had several major livelihood work that have made the people’s sense of fulfillment leading the world.

For example, the popularity of the Internet has made China’s Internet economy and Internet life the best in the world; the popularity of high-speed rail has made our travelling become the fastest in the world; I have been to hundreds of cities in the world, compared to the public security of these cities, Chinese cities are the saftest in the world, Wang Said. All these have brought the real improvement of China’s people’s life and made China become one of the most envied countries in the world. This kind of admiration will greatly increase China’s soft power.
