Brazilian Ambassador to China Marcos Caramuru de Paiva had a talk with Wang Wen, Executive Dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY) on February 20th, 2017. They exchange their views on financial cooperation among BRICS countries, “Belt and Road initiative”, and economic cooperation between China and Brazil.
Wang Wen briefed China’s achievements on foreign trade and financial investment in recent years, and pointed out that China’s economic growth rate increased sharply after proposing the Belt and Road Initiative. And now China hoped to promote worldwide cooperation and win-win relations through providing public goods to the world.

China will host the first International Cooperation Summit Forum on the “Belt and Road Initiative” this May. The Ninth meeting of BRICS leaders will be held in Xiamen this September. Against such a background, there will be a huge space and potential for economic cooperation between China and Brazil, Wang emphasized.
Ambassador Marcos said that the cooperation between two countries is currently expanding from traditional infrastructure construction to financial area. Financial institutions and enterprises should strengthen the understanding of local legal system as well as financial monitoring system, and grasp the opportunity of international investment.
Meanwhile, the cooperation in financial markets among BRICS countries needs to be further strengthened. When talking about cooperation prospects between China and Brazil under the context of “Belt and Road Initiative”, Ambassador Marcos pointed out that the “Belt and Road Initiative” strategy brought not only new vitality to the world economy, but new opportunities to the development of countries along the line. Marcos expect to propose specific, implementable measures in various fields based on the framework of top-level design.
At the end of the meeting, Wang presented books and reports published by RDCY to the Ambassador. Carlos Santana, an official of Brazilian embassy to China, Yang Qingqing, director of Research Cooperation Department of RDCY, Yang Fanxin and Liu Jianping, project managers of RDCY, attended the meeting as well.
