Modelling the World, an Approach from Science

In November 2024, President Xi Jinping, during his meeting with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, stated that China and Mexico should continue to enhance interactions, nurture our friendship, and promote all-round development of bilateral relations in the new era. Renmin University of China has carried out in-depth cooperation with educational institutions and think tanks in Mexico in multiple fields such as visits, student exchanges, and academic research, building a solid bridge for enhancing educational, cultural and scientific research exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. In view of this, the“Global Masters Forum”of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of Chinia (RDCY) will honorably invite Dr. José Antonio Seade Kuri, President of the Mexican Academy of Sciences to visit Renmin University of China and deliver a keynote speech on February 18, 2025, modeling the world from a scientific perspective and exploring the potential for future cooperation between China and Mexico in science and education.

Speaker's CV

Dr. Seade obtained his BSc in mathematics from the National University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1976 and his Masters and PhD from the University of Oxford in 1977 and 1980, respectively. Since then, he has worked at the Institute of Mathematics, UNAM. Dr. Seade was elected President of the Mexican Academy of Sciences in August 2023. His research interests include singularity theory, dynamical systems, and complex geometry. He has won the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Prize twice and received the Solomon Lefschetz Medal in 2021, which is awarded every four years by the Mathematical Council of the Americas. He served as the President of the Mexican Mathematical Society (1986-1987) and founded the Mexican Mathematical Olympiad.
