Lebanon and the Geopolitical Shifts in the Middle East 

 

China and Lebanon have maintained close cooperation since establishing diplomatic relations in 1971. As a vital crossroads of civilizations and a multicultural nation in the Middle East,  Lebanon serves as an important partner in the Belt and Road cooperation, playing a distinctive role in regional peace and mutual learning among civilizations. Amidst the evolving geopolitical landscape of the Middle East, Lebanon and China have strengthened strategic coordination in maintaining regional stability and promoting development cooperation. The eighth session of the "Ambassador Forum" hosted by the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY), will feature a keynote speech by H.E. Milia Jabbour, Ambassador of Lebanon to China, on April 2. The address will analyze the shifting power dynamics in the Middle East, exploring Lebanon's diplomatic practices, and new pathways for deepening China-Lebanon collaboration.

Speaker's CV

Ms. Milia JABBOUR has been serving in the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1996 and has been serving as the Ambassador of Lebanon to China since 2017. From 2009 to 2017, she was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Mission – Delegation of Lebanon at UNESCO. From 2006 to 2009, she served as Counsellor of the Political and Consular Affairs Council of the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants. From 2003 to 2006, she served as the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Lebanon in Brazil. From 2001 to 2003, she was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Lebanon in Kuwait. From 1999 to 2001, she served as the Chargé d'affaires à.i of the Embassy of Lebanon in Montevideo (Uruguay).
